Darling, I was on a vacation recently and stayed at an Airbnb, and then I realized that while I was away, my empty house could be making money, honey. If you're someone like me that is busy and not home all the time, your home could be an Airbnb. And it's actually pretty simple to get started. Even if you don't have a whole house, you could start with just a spare room. Personally, I really enjoy staying at Airbnbs. I really do. I love a good Airbnb. Who is that? Come back British you. And it really is a great way to, like, support local economy and support local people. So Airbnb is fabulous, and I know I was doing my British voice earlier, but we love Airbnb. So think about what you could do with some extra cash, whether you're looking to treat yourself to something nice, like a shopping spree or a spa day or start a whole side hustle. Airbnb can help you be that person. Your home might be worth more than you think. Find out how much

Let's face it. I'm not gonna stop treating myself anytime soon, and neither should you. But what I should stop doing is paying for me time with whatever random credit card is in my wallet. NerdWallet lets you compare top travel credit cards side by side to maximize your spending, some even offering 10 times the points on your spending, So what could future you do with better rewards, honey? Is it, like, a gorgeous free flight that you would have had to have paid for, but, honey, you're saving that flight money. Is it a gorgeous room upgrade? Is it, like, a gorgeous, like, two bedroom suite instead of a one bedroom suite. So you're, like, in laws or, like, your friend could stay over there in that room, so you don't have to, like, hear them doing whatever with what they're doing in your your guys' room. Is it, like, really adulting? I love adulting. And you know what else I love? Is not waiting to make smart financial decisions. I also love paying my credit cards off in full every month because, like, yes, good credit let's, like, do try to do that and, like, making responsible decisions, which we love. But, anyway, don't wait to make smart financial decisions compare and find smarter credit cards, savings accounts, and more today at nerdwallet.com. NerdWallet, finance smarter, reminder, credit is subject to lender approval and terms apply. My husband loves him some ritual. His little tum tum can get off his little microbiome, it says, help me. For you, give you information about your skin, like skin type, what areas you get congested, where you're more oily, if you're dehydrated, or if you're dry. Like, if if you are struggling with, like, rosacea, just like persistent redness, irritation, like that kind of thing is what an aesthetician, knows the best. That's their bet. Okay. Cyber Namca, I feel like I just remembered this thing from, like, TikTok, but not with you just, like, generally or maybe that was you and I just can't remember. But what's it isn't there, like, a difference between, like, dehydrated skin and dry skin? Yes. There is a difference. Dehydrated That was you, wasn't it? Probably. Trophiolate, probably, because I harp on this a lot, because it makes a difference. Yeah. So what's the difference again? Dehydrated skin, again, may make your skin look, slightly more aged. The fine lines might be more noticeable. The the your makeup may settle into your lines. It may be irritated, itchy because, again, your skin has, like, a moisture barrier that is supposed to be on your skin, which is just like a film. Film is such a gross word, but that's just how it's described. A film of, like, lipids, water, oils, that kind of protect your skin from the outside world. So when that has reduced, like, things can reduce it, out living out in the world, wintertime, being too aggressive with your skin, those kind of things will reduce the moisture in your skin and make your skin dehydrated. Is also, like, not drinking enough water a reason why that can happen? Like, can just drinking more water help? Yep. Drinking water and alcohol also, like, takes the moisture out of your skin, your muscles too. So, like, a lot of the times the day after, people have gone drinking, they see it, like, especially in their eyes because that's some of the most delicate skin on our body. They definitely notice, like, that's why, like, our eyes will sometimes feel puffy or, like, dry, irritated after, a night of drinking. So yeah. Mhmm. So if someone's in their, let's say, twenties, and they've never been to an s

Welcome to Getting Curious. I'm great. Thank you so much for having me and for caring so much about local news and making space for this conversation. So, Meg, we're at a pivotal time in our nation's history for understanding information, understanding the world around us. We've covered misinformation and disinformation a lot on the podcast, and I think that collectively, we're all incredibly concerned about where we are. And, and so many of us are really procuring our news from social media, whether that's TikTok, x, you know, even next door, like citizen app, like, all of those types of things. We're really it's turned into, like, vigilante journalism where, like, I feel like a lot of people aren't journalists. And so what are we facing in the ecosystem of news and journalism in the United States specifically today? Yeah. So I think you stated a lot of the factors that are at work right now. A lot has changed in the news media ecosystem in the last 50 years. Some of it's good, some of it's not. And I think that's really important to remember as we have this conversation. We're gonna talk a lot about the real challenges that, the news industry, particularly local news, faces and the real challenges that our democracy faces in part because of that. But I also don't want you or anyone else listening to this to lose hope or feel powerless, and, like, there's nothing that we can do. Because the truth is there are big problems, but a lot of small solutions, and we can all play a role in turning things around this year and beyond. I think about, like, local news as kind of 3 main segments. There is radio, there is TV, and then there's print. Like

Not wearing hats and you're just wearing your gorgeous head out in the world, which is I applaud you. I love that gorgeous, bald is beautiful, but sunscreen. Our scalps can be a little bit more sensitive. So making sure that you're protecting your scalp from the like, from the sun is so important. Then I would also say, some sort of like gentle clarifying oil. If you're wearing a lot of wigs or hats, and even if you're not, if your scalp is just taking a lot of like, you know, from the elements, you know, from the sun is like living your life in all the sunscreen. So not do like a double JV and hair thing but pre wash scalp oil would be gorgeous. But that's not the only, clarifying scalp oil there is. And actually pre wash scalp oil is like a little moisturizing. It's a little clarifying. It's a little balancing. And it has a lot of ingredients that work really well together. But there are other scalp oils and there are other oils that you could use on your scalp, to either balance or strengthen, moisturize whatever you need, or seal in the moisture rather. So yeah. So I I also think maybe, like, a very gentle exfoliant could be nice too for someone who has alopecia. If you are wearing a lot of hats, just to make sure that you're clarifying any like build up of dead skin. But you don't wanna be too harsh either and very, like, you know, gentle using the pads of your fingers, gentle exfoliant. Like, don't go, you know, hard as a motherfucker on there. So, or ham, as the kids say, I think, still. Y'all love our little community moment, but now let's get to our gorgeous conversation with the one, the only, Mikaela Nagira.
